Soufflés! Mousse!

Today Amy did some desserts at school. She doesn't like to blow her own horn, so she asked me to make this post. By the time the food got to Mary and me it didn't look this nice, having been stuffed in Tupperware for the subway ride home. But it still tasted really good. Even Mary was able to enjoy a soufflé au fromage.

a romantic candle-light dinner

Dan made an excellent dinner last night.
It was beautifully presented on two new plates!
He went to 4 grocery stores looking for ingredients.
Heads up: you can't find corn dogs in New York.
Thanks Dan.

Our little Valentine.

Getting Dressed

Quite the ordeal when Dan helps.

Daddy

Mary's first coherent, correctly used word with intent came Sunday morning.
"Daddy."

Where we live.

The "H" is for Hughes.

For those who haven't made it out to visit us, this is where we live. This is our apartment building. We live on the 4th floor in the back left corner. These are pictures from across the street, and another looking down the street.

Children's Museum of Manhattan

The coolest place to play on cold days! This is our new favorite. Honestly I've never seen a museum like it.

Mary's first Birthday Party (for Alex)

Mary just went to her first birthday party for her friend Alex. He lives just across the street. Here are a few pictures of her making her way there. She walked the whole way carrying his present. (Very cute.)

(She may have dropped it a few times.)

Mary goes to the museum a lot because it's free and a big space to walk around, and she is now starting to notice that there's stuff in it. Her favorite thing is other children, but she liked the Asian Wild Dog too.

Getting so BIG!

Playing in Central Park. What a great day! Dan's birthday, 60 degrees and sunny! I think Mary discovered her shadow today. She started laughing and clapping, then we noticed she was watching her shadow. It was so much fun. We played with our shadows all afternoon.

Mary's first pigtails, yes, very small. And new shoes. The shoes were Dan's when he was little. They are so cute. They go "clippity-clap, clippity-clap".

A big girl! And proud of it.

Still hungry.

Mary, having finished her own cupcake, notices one in the hand of an unsuspecting victim. (cue Jaws music)

Yum

This is Mary destroying her cupcake, with her friends.
