mary loved the sand; she liked the texture and taste
mary also like playing with her cousins. we're not sure if it was reciprocated. "swiper no swipy" was heard many times.

Puerto Rico

On our way from NYC to SLC we had a brief six day layover in Puerto Rico (a kind grandmother had packed the baby home). This was the villa we stayed in--thanks to the resort overbooking "online special" rooms.

The view from one of our cabanas.
Amy reading on the other cabana, and yes, we had our own swimming pool. The villa even had a moat (but no alligators).Compared to our 400 square foot NY apartment, we probably would have been happy just to stay in the TV cupboard...
Hiking in the rain forest.

After relaxing for a few days, we had a couple spare hours for a cultural experience, so we visited a castle in Old San Juan.

"I don't see any British coming, let's go eat."

Last Month in NYC

View of Manhattan from Brooklyn.
Mary devouring a cupcake on our front steps. There was a fair on our street. This sort of sugary extravagance used to be unusual for Mary, then we moved closer to family.
Walking through Central Park on a rainy day.

Little Italy (Bronx), Mary trying to walk backwards.

Mary got all dressed up and knocked on the front door expecting me to let her out. This picture was take before 7 in the morning, note the bedroom door is closed (Dan is still sleeping).
Derrick took this and sent it to me after picking up Mary and Dan from the airport. It dispelled any fear I had that she was a monster on the flight. (I love iphones.)

Photo Essay

"look dad. smells good."

This is her new expression she does all the time. She thinks it's hilarious.

This is a tatoo from a biker bbq we went to.

"Sign me up grandpa, I can sell this stuff."

"I stole these toys!"

Hippo Park. My favorite place, rain or shine.

Playing in the giant drinking fountains by the Natural History Museum. (I should be a swim suit model.)

Amy made her a dog out of an old sock. We are good buddies.

Pansy

Mary can now walk around in shoes too big for her, put her teddy bear and doll in the stroller, and try and grab dolls from other children. She shows little interest in balls or trucks like her friend Aleks. So she’s kind of a girly girl. She also eats sand when she can, and food off the floor, and laughs when she gets scared, so she’s not a pansy or anything.
